In a stressful environment especially those living in the metro, people find ways to relax and detoxify all the tension they've acquired in their whole day of work. Some attend yoga classes to find their inner peace while others go to their favorite spa sessions to massage out their weary body. However what if I Prepared and Written By: Kean Osmund Aquino tell you, there's another way to relieve yourself from a toxic day that is both relaxing and contributes hugely to the environment. Want to know what activity it is? It's actually tree planting. Now, I know that you'll say, oh but isn't that a tiring activity? Well, let me give you 3 reasons it isn't the case and what are the health benefits it bring to one individual. 1. Just like yoga, it helps you find your inner peace We always hear the term inner peace whenever we talk about yoga. It has become synonymous to the word. Now, I have attended my yoga classes back in my college days and according to my professor, finding inner peace means you're able to put yourself in a state of peace even if you're under immense pressure and stressful environment. To put it in perspective, if your boss has been yelling you all day but despite it, you're able to finish your tasks at a precise pace because you're meditating and relaxing yourself at a certain period then that's an example of finding your inner peace. It's like being able to rest without a bed. Planting trees is no different. Since a tree is synonymous to nature, there's a thinking that by digging and placing a tree, you've done something right. A fulfillment type of emotion that signifies that you help the environment as you've done that task. There's an inner peace that you feel because it diverts your attention away from the things that you normally do to a duty of helping mother earth restore its lost beauty. 2. Just like attending a gym class, though you sweat during the process but it's perspiration of accomplishment Speaking of fulfillment, though, as we've talked about in the beginning that yes, this might be a tiring activity however one has to put in his/her mind that it's just the same when you go to a gym and treadmill for 30 minutes or hit the weights for 20 minutes. Have you asked a corporate person why despite having a long day at the office instead of just going straight to his/her house, he/she opt to hit the gym and workout? Because, if that's the case, then it's not a bad idea to do a hobby that is more significant than going to a gym? Now, I don't have anything against going to the gym. It brings a lot of health benefits to people. Nevertheless, if you're one of those people just looking to perspire, then why not try planting a tree? It's also an exercise perfect for those looking to get sweat. Digging from a soil enables you to strengthen your arms. Putting a plant in a hole especially if it's a grown type requires leg and arm work to lift it. And not to mention, before you start planting necessitate stretching because planting a future tree demand a lot of inclination and stooping that may hurt your back if you don't warm-up properly. 3. It exposes you to fresh air that is beneficial to your lungs Have you smell the scent of the soil? How about that fragrant coming out of a plant when you water it? I'm pretty sure you have encountered some of this. And living in a metro exposes you to the smoke of cars and people with cigars.
